It is a beautiful hotel on a gorgeous beach.
The staff, although always polite, was truly awful. Every day the waiters had to be reminded several times about our drink orders and then would bring the wrong bill, the front desk never came back with information that we requested about car rental, and worst of all, I caught the housekeeping staff takings swigs directly out of the neighbor's half empty wine bottle while they were out for the day. When we left the person checking us out had no idea how to calculate the taxes so just decided to add us$64.00 On our bill just in case. It took an entire hour to sort it out. Although the hotel is beautiful, it is nothing very fancy, and with the terrible service we felt that the price of a triple with half board of over $320.00/day was grossly overpriced.

Having stayed at Chaya Habarana Village, this facility is not as that great. However, being at the beach front is a great plus. Hotel staff were very friendly. The breakfast has some great selections.
If you reserve through bookings.com, the exchange rate the hotel applies is much higher than the bank rate. On top of that, you will be also required to pay taxes (which is clearly mentioned in the reservation confirmation - so there is no surprise). This exchange rate conversion and paying by your foreign credit card is a double wammy - beware.

White sandy beach, blue ocean. Variety of food, including sea food.
Rooms are not very luxury, very noisy ACs. Territory of hotel is not well groomed, as vell as a beach.

Quiet location. A lot of monkeys and chipmunks around. Good food. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Room was small and a way too simple. We expected more for the price. I'd say whole Shri-Lanka is a way too overpriced. So Chaaya Blu is a good choice if you are going to Trincomalee.

The staff was very good and attentive. Eg..poolside..always around for drink service or if we needed ash trays etc. food was good and reasonably priced
The drive in was terrible. I work for Sri Lankan Air Taxi and we can fly into Trinco. I can't imagine why your people can't work out a program to fly people in. To subject guests to a 6-7 hr drive over those roads is almost inhumane. People spend 2 days of their stay in country just getting back and forth to your hotel.

The room is spotless and airy with a sparkling clean bathroom, located in a marvelous and gorgeous location that is convenient to reach attractions, making it a good choice for visiting the area.
